Daytona 500 Champions

On February 22, 1959 the first DAYTONA 500 was run before a crowd of 41,000 fans. This 200 lap, 500 mile, race is held annually in Daytona Beach, Florida at the start of the NASCAR season. Widely regarded as the most important and prestigious race on the calendar, the DAYTONA 500 grew the popularity of the sport, earning the title of “The Great American Race”. In February 2008, the DAYTONA 500 will celebrate its 50th anniversary.
