NASCAR Hall of Fame® driver Terry Labonte’s lone win came in what is now the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series® in dramatic fashion at Richmond Raceway in 1995.
Labonte, driving the No. 5 DuPont Chevrolet for Hendrick Motorsports®, won the pole in qualifying and led on four occasions under the lights at Richmond. While Labonte was out front late in the race, a caution set up a two-lap shootout to the finish. When the green flag fell for the final time, Labonte eked out to a narrow lead, but was tapped up the track by the second-place driver and the No. 5 truck was moved up the track on the final lap. Labonte rolled the outside lane and withstood some side-by-side banging as the checkers waved. At the finish line, Labonte was just a few inches ahead, but it was enough to score the
win in his third and final career series start.
To celebrate the 30th anniversary of Labonte’s Richmond Truck win, Lionel Racing – the Official Diecast of NASCAR® – is excited to offer fans a 1:64-scale Raced-Win die-cast replica of the Chevrolet that the legendary driver took to Victory Lane. Each die-cast will feature all the scuffs and markings that Labonte’s No. 5 showed after the thrilling short track battle, a hard-top body, rolling Goodyear tires, and more.
This unforgettable moment in Hendrick Motorsports history will be offered in a strictly limited edition.
