Stewart-Haas Racing driver Chase Briscoe crashed the Playoff party with a thrilling upset victory in the Southern 500 at Darlington Raceway, the final race of the 2024 NASCAR Cup Series regular season. Facing a must-win scenario to qualify for the postseason, Briscoe went from fourth to first with a daring three-wide pass for the lead with 26 laps remaining. Once out front, Briscoe thwarted the challenges from another Playoff-hungry driver in order to score his first NASCAR Cup Series race since March of 2022. It was also the first win for Stewart-Haas Racing in 2024, its farewell season as an organization.
