While leading the field with just three laps to go, another competitor tagged the No. 24 bumper, sending Elliott’s hopes for his first NASCAR Cup Series™ race win, and ultimately the championship, into the wall along with his NAPA Chevrolet. After the checkered flag flew, fans in the grandstands went wild when Elliott bumped the guilty party’s car on the front stretch before climbing out of the No. 24 Chevy and getting right in his face. “My mom always said if you don’t have anything nice to say don’t say anything at all,” Elliott told the media after the race. “He’s not even worth my time. We had a good opportunity. I can’t control his decisions and whatever the hell that was.” Now, Lionel Racing is excited to release the second edition in its “Checkers or Wreckers” line – the 2017 No. 24 NAPA Martinsville Raced die-cast.
