In 2007, a documentary-style movie, entitled "Dale", was released in theatres and, according to the movie website, includes original, never-before-seen footage of Earnhardt's racing career and personal life, as well as family photos and historical interviews with the seven-time champion that give the viewer an unprecedented look at the man Earnhardt truly was. "Dale" was released in early 2007 showing only in major NASCAR markets. The film is a collaboration between NASCAR Media and CMT, and was released to DVD.

Motorsports Authentics released a set of 12 cars in conjunction with the movie. These cars represent various important dates and cars in Dale's life. This particular car is the 1996 "Starting In Front" Monte Carlo that Earnhardt raced on August 11, 1996. He started on the pole that day and ended up finishing sixth, even with a broken shoulder.

The car also comes with a collector's card with reflections from Chocolate Myers: "This was something...it was different for us. We were not road racers...but we had success there...it's one of those places where anything can happen...Dale was on the pople but kept talkin' about what he did wrong...Dale is not expected to race...David Green is on standby. Dale was all broken up from the big crash (broken shoulder). He, I think was tough...we were rough and tough...and he was mischievous...we had the greatest team ever. He goes up there on the pole...he even surprised himself...it just showed how tough he was...he just came to win."
